Iwakuni English School
We are an up and coming school in the heart of Iwakuni city. We teach all ages from 3 years old to senior citizens. This is not a strict school. We want our students to enjoy coming here and have fun whilst they learn. We are looking for someone who’s personality will fit into this welcoming and inclusive environment.
Most classes are with groups of younger children who are just starting English. We strive to create a fun and welcoming environment where the kids can feel comfortable whilst they learn.
We do also teach adult classes, most of which are private classes aimed at improving conversation and making the student’s English sound more natural.
Teachers will have to be good with kids and have a positive nurturing personality.
We provide visa sponsorship for candidates who have a degree from a recognized university. We are looking for at least a year commitment and are very willing to re-contract the following year if everything goes well.
New Teacher Arrivals
We can help guide any people who are new to Japan, suggesting the best way to get from your home country to Iwakuni.
New Teacher Training
If you can join our school sooner rather than later we would like to have you shadow some of our classes so that you can understand the style that students are already used to.
We have a modern and spacious Japanese apartment in the city that is just a ten-minute walk away from the school. Furnishing and necessitates can be organized as well depending on the applicant.
Teachers will work in our main office for both planning and teaching lessons. one class a week will be held in a local school. There will be 8 working hours a day Tuesday to Saturday, this includes both lesson and office time.
Students, Classrooms, and Lessons
Our teachers work independently in the classroom and they are responsible for what happens inside. If there are any problems involving students Japanese speaking staff are always on hand.
Our focus is getting our students to enjoy English and to have an international experience but we do still expect their language skills to improve. The school has textbooks that make up our curriculum. We follow these books as a guideline but teachers are expected to add in their own games, activities and resources. We want teachers to teach whatever style works for them and the students.
